Why Pop Songs Sound The Same?

                                         POP SONGS

Ever been on a  car trip listening to the radio then uttered, "hey, this sounds similar to that song". Well, I had, in fact - most of the time. Did you notice? Almost all recent hits sound so similar but people still love it. I know it is catchy but don't you think that they need a style and rhythm? What do the producers care!? They make millions and millions.

Here is what I think the reasons why all pop songs sound the same:

1. Trend

People like new stuff. Remember in the 80's where all the funky waves crashed in and everyone went insane. It was considered trendy and cool to follow the latest trend - music and fashion. If you're not following with the trend, you're boring.. So when a one song blew up the chart, music producers release more and more songs that sound similar so people will like it.

2. Cost

The cost of releasing new artists or new songs are higher than well-known artists. Plus, well known celebrities surely will sell more records as they are popular and high in demand. People usually will buy something that they know, so releasing a new genre of tracks are a gamble that producers not willing to take.

3. Songwriter

Believe it or not, most hit songs are written by the same songwriter, Max Martin. Max has written and co-written hits for Maroon 5, Katy Perry, Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, Jessie J and many more. No wonder their songs are similar, they were written by the same person!

4. Risk

Producing single that is new and unfamiliar is a huge risk. Will people like it? Will people buy it? They don't know. To play it safe, producers just produce songs with the same beat over and over again. Guaranteed, people will love it and it will stay from the charts for weeks or even months.

I guess we will stuck with this EDM pop songs for a while until a new song breaks the trend. It had happened in the past, where people are so into this genre but after a while, everything had gone. It is the same cycle over and over again.
